The Gourmet Ice cream Factory has announced that ice cream cake delivery fees are taking a back seat for the month of October, 2009. The Melbourne based manufacturer and vendor of naturally made ice cream and sorbet, have announced on their website at http://www.birthdaycakeshop.com.au that delivery of birthday cakes is offered free within Melbourne until the end of the month. The Lickme ice cream and sorbet brand made by The Gourmet Ice Cream Factory is provided to many Melbourne restaurants. Earlier this year they launched the website, offering a full range of ice cream birthday cakes and delivery to within 20km of Camberwell in Melbourne. While the website reported to attract an ever growing volume of traffic, the free delivery offer is expected to create a spike in conversions this month.

Also in the works is a pending launch of a concept called "photo cakes", where the customer can provide a digital image of their choice to appear on a birthday cake. This will extend the existing range "image cakes" that offer a choice of cake images from AFL teams to favourite children's characters. Photo cakes promise to be a new wave in personalised birthday cakes.
